Oh, Olivier Rousteing, you know exactly what to do to make a menswear blogger happy. Olivier, the creative director of Balmain, unveiled a predominately blue and white collection with nautical nods and many different texture. Leather pants are in, boys.
Stripes and trousers, biker jackets with cotton pants, asymmetrical jackets and moto jeans (but for men). The Balmain mens spring 2014 collection was crisp and styled to perfection. My favorite pieces are the houndstooth varsity jacket, the leather moto jeans, the thin-striped sweater with shoulder detailing, and the harbor jacket.
The nautical nods (that is so fun to say) are made casual. Slim trousers, among other design work, clearly make this Parisian at the roots, but still could be wore well by anyone out of Europe. Overall, Olivier is a brilliant designer and it is clear he puts in an amazing amount of execution in to his mens collection.
